SUMMER 2013 SEMESTER: All students can purchase books between May 16 - July 8 at the bookstore on credit by using their NSU One Card (Student ID Card).  Financial Aid IS NOT required.  If you choose this option, the charges for your books will be loaded onto your NSU Student Account.

Book Allowances FAQ

Who is eligible for a book allowance?
All students.

How do I determine how much of a book allowance I am eligible for?
Fall & Spring: the allowance will be $1,000.00 for all students, excluding Nursing Clinical Students who will receive $1,500.00.  Summer: $500.  Remember that these amounts are max limits, you will only be charged for the amounts you actually purchase.  NOTE: Student athletes on scholarship should still see the Compliance Office about books.

How do I use my book allowance?
You will simply go to the bookstore with your Student ID Card and use that to purchase your books.  If you are an on-line student simply call the bookstore and they will obtain the necessary information to charge the books to your account.

What can I buy?
You can purchase the books and materials required for the classes you are enrolled in.  However, you cannot purchase clothing and other items not related to your specific classes.

What if my book is not in stock?
Yout can use the book allowance to pre-pay for books not in stock.

What if my book allowance has expired and I need to purchase another book?
Once the book allowances have expired, you will need to purchase the book with your own resources.

What if I am taking a B-Term Class?
Once book allowances expire, you may no longer use them.  Therefore, if you decide to enroll in a course after the expiration of the book allowance, you will not be able to use your book allowance for purchases.  Often times, students enroll in B-Term Courses after the expiration of book allowances.  If you do so, a book allowance will not be available for your B-Term Course.

Can I buy my books from more than one place?
Yes, you can purchase books from any of the participating bookstores:

What happens after I use the book allowance?
After your books are purchased, the charges will appear on your student account and if you receive any form of aid, those funds will pay toward the balance.  If you do not have aid, you will either need to pay the balance or be placed on an installment plan and billed for the amount owed. NOTE: The installment plan charge is $85.00 and if you do not pay on time there will be a late payment fee of $45.00.
